Luxury Jet Interior Design Study
Aircraft: Gulfstream G650
Inspiration: Rolex Land-Dweller 40

Project Overview
This project was a fast-turnaround design exercise assigned during my time at AERISTO. The goal was to conceptualize a private jet interior inspired by a brand outside of aviation, translating its design language into materials, color, and spatial experience.
I selected the Gulfstream G650 as the aircraft platform and drew inspiration from the Rolex Land-Dweller 40, specifically its ice blue dial and understated approach to luxury.
The Brief
- Choose an aircraft interior of your choice
- Select a non-aviation brand as inspiration
- Develop a cohesive interior concept within a short timeframe
- Present the idea through narrative, materials, and visuals
The emphasis was on design thinking, translation, and clarity, rather than production constraints.
Concept Direction
The Land-Dweller 40 stood out for its balance of restraint and presence. Rather than relying on contrast or ornament, the watch communicates value through proportion, finish, and subtle variation.
That philosophy guided the interior concept. It prioritized calm surfaces, intentional color placement, and materials that feel considered rather than loud.
Persona Development
To ground the design decisions, I created a persona to represent the intended owner of the aircraft. This helped guide choices around color, texture, and overall mood.
This framework ensured the interior felt purposeful and aligned with a specific user.
Material & Color Exploration
A material board was developed to translate the ice blue dial into an interior environment without overpowering the space.
Key considerations included:
- Leather tones that felt cool yet inviting
- Subtle contrast through stitching and surface variation
- Materials that interact softly with light rather than reflect aggressively
The ice blue influence was used sparingly, allowing it to act as an accent rather than a focal point.
Outcome
This exercise reinforced my approach to design as a process rooted in translation, taking inspiration from one discipline and reinterpreting it meaningfully in another. It also highlighted the importance of narrative, persona development, and material sensitivity when designing for luxury environments.
Reflection
Working within a short timeline emphasized clarity over perfection. The project strengthened my ability to move from concept to visualization efficiently, while still maintaining a thoughtful and consistent design language.
