Within the gaming community, there has been an increase in gender based discrimination towards women, and because of that, we chose RIOT Games as our primary company. For our nonprofit organization, we chose Women in Games because of their strong stance against the harassment and abuse within both the player community and workforce. Together, the two companies would collaborate in the "It's Her Game Too." campaign.
Research had to be done to further prove why this was a necessary campaign. Through our own survey conducted, we found that 100% of participants experienced some form of toxicity in a game, with over 94% reporting that they experienced that toxicity from male players.
There are various campaign strategies that would prove successful. To start, there would be 3 in-game changes for VALORANT :
1. The ATOXIC Bundle
2. Featured Report Option
3. Shame Banner
We would then host the "ATOXIC" Tournament. This will be an all-female tournament in which each member of the winning team would receive a scholarship. Proceeds would also be donated to Women in Games.
An infographic would then be provided on the Riot Games Instagram page. There, players would find all the information about the campaign, how to enter the tournament, and why we are doing this in the first place. The infographic would then act as a guide for the entire campaign.
